Frequently asked questions

Plastic cotton buds have been banned from sale since January 2020 (January 1, 2020 to be exact). Biodegradable cotton buds made of bamboo and cotton are still authorized
Organic cotton buds, made from bamboo and cotton, are still authorized for sale because they are biodegradable and compostable.
Our 100% organic cotton and bamboo cotton swabs are biodegradable, recyclable AND compostable.
Traditional cotton buds with plastic stems should be disposed of in the household waste garbage can (the grey garbage can), as they cannot be recycled. On the other hand, if you use organic cotton buds made from natural bamboo and cotton fiber, you can dispose of them in your composter or in the compost garbage cans available in some communes.
To clean your ears properly with a cotton swab, you need to go gently, without pushing the swab deep into the ear canal. If you do, you risk pushing earwax deep into the ear and piercing the eardrum: and that’s very painful! Use your cotton buds to clean the auricle (the outer part of your ears) and then the beginning of the ear canal.
You’ve pushed your cotton bud too far into your ear: watch out! It’s very painful, and there’s a risk of infection if the eardrum is pierced: in the worst cases, you could lose your hearing for good! As soon as pain appears, contact your GP, an ear specialist or, in the worst case, an emergency room.
